Cutler’s field director is out

governor matchup.jpgThe field director for Eliot Cutler’s gubernatorial campaign is no longer working for the campaign, a source with knowledge of the campaign confirmed. The reasons for Brandon Maheu’s departure are unclear, as the campaign has not responded to requests for comment. My understanding is he stopped working for the campaign on Monday.

Maheu is a former Democratic Party activist who worked to help regain the state House of Representatives for Democrats in 2012. He started working for Cutler last spring.

Obviously, losing your field director with nine months to go is not ideal. And after a number of setbacks, including lost endorsements and a weak fundraising quarter, it’s possible the campaign is looking for a shakeup.

Once I hear more, I will update further.
